This iconic deer cover features a big, 10-point whitetail buck leaping over a log, legs folded beneath him and eyes wide as he makes his escape. As was typical of many Outdoor Life covers from this era, painter Walter Haskell Hinton included two hunters scrambling for their rifles in the background.
